Columbus
Controls, Inc. was founded in 1981 by Gary E. Hanold, President.
After operations began, the company leased a 1500 sq. ft. facility on
County Line Rd. in Westerville, OH. Mark
Fontana joined CCI later that year, followed shortly by a few technicians who
remain with the company to this day. In 1986, Paul Van Schepen signed on as Vice President of
sales and the resulting additional business required that the leased space
increase to 5000 sq. ft. In 1991,
due to booming business, another need for additional space prompted CCI to
acquire land in the Johnny Appleseed Corporate Center just off St. Rt. 3
(Westerville Rd.), in Columbus. Construction
of a 10,500 sq. ft. shop and office began in the summer of 1992. In October of that year, CCI moved into the new facility and
began yet another remarkable growth period.
In the spring of 1994, a second phase (3500 sq. ft.) of construction
occurred to accommodate the continued growth.
1998, in preparation of Gary’s retirement, Paul Van Schepen was
promoted to President, Mark Fontana was appointed Vice-President, and Gary took
on the role of CEO. In 1999, Gary
retired and business has continued to grow.
CCI has enjoyed constant growth and success due to our continued focus on
quality in all aspects of our business. This
has in turn led to many long-term relationships and client loyalty.
